Directions Are you looking for directions so you can come visit us? Click here. At Laurelwood Academy we believe there are only two directions we can take in life that lead to opposing destinations. All the horizontal directions we point our feet towards on this earth lead only to empty nothingness. It's like trying to find the edge of the world. And if you choose a vertical direction, down will lead you to the molten core of the earth, where you will be burnt to a crisp. Up will lead you into thinner and thinner air until there is nothing but the vacuum of space and you can then head towards the sun and be fried like an egg on your approach, or you can head out towards any of the attractive sparkling stars and be frozen to death or suffocate along the way. And even if you have the proper spaceship and equipment and supplies and reach one of those other stars at ten times the speed of light, you'll still find nothing but another ball of burning gas. Yuriy Gagarin, the first man in space, circled the earth. As he looked down on our blue planet and looked out into the beauty of space he said, "I see no God." So how does one find meaning in life? The journey begins by taking a spiritual direction, not a physical one. Our lives are about a journey of the soul. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Want peace and purpose in your life? It all begins with God's love and starting a relationship with Jesus. Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom," and "Remember your creator in the days of your youth." Want to learn more?
